1,244 islands, islets and ridge sea over the blue waters of the Adriatic, spaced about 10 nautical miles along the coast (approximately 6 278 km) from Istria to Dubrovnik. Croatian islands are a real challenge for sailing enthusiasts.

Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea with about 1500 bays, coves and ports is an ideal place for sailing under full sail, swimming motorboats and yachts.

Since ancient times the Adriatic Sea was one of the most important sea routes of ancient cultures. Due to its location Adriatic Sea is one of the most secure and calm seas. There is no strong currents or big waves. The greatest depth of 1330 m reaches the Adriatic Sea in the south. It is very clear up to 50 meters, with an average water temperature of 16 to 24 degrees C.

Croatian marinas are located in well protected places. They are a safe haven for sailors visiting them. There are also an ideal place where in addition to service and maintenance of yachts offer professional services related to sailing and tourism.

Practical information:

Sailors without  own vessel need’t worry. You can easily charter a yacht, leaving the means of transport in the parking lot of the marina or harbor. In Croatia, there are about 140 companies chartering yachts, affiliated Grupacija iznajmitelja plovila Hrvatske.
In order to  sailing in Croatia it is necessary to check in at the harbor master’s office along with payment of the registration fee dependent on the size of the yacht. Is obligatory insurance is paid well, and use of port facilities.

All along the coast functioning several dozen border crossings for yachts. And the transition category are: Umag, Pula, Rijeka, Senj, Mali Losinj, Maslenica, Zadar, Sibenik, Split, Ploce, Korcula, Dubrovnik. In the season opening additional border crossing in Novigrad, Sali, Bozava, Primosten, Ravni Żakanj, Ubli (Lastovo), Komiža, Hvar, Vis, Vela Luka, Kanegra Umag and the marina.

Lovers of sailing should adhere to the following principles:

-restraining a distance of less than 50 meters from the organized beach;
-restraining a distance of less than 150 meters from the natural spa.

Weather conditions can be checked on channels 69 (North Adriatic), 67 (Central Adriatic) and 73 (South Adriatic). You can also check weather conditions listening to Radio Rijeka, Radio Split and Radio Dubrovnik. Messages are broadcast three times a day.
